PROPERTIES OF WALNUTS

Walnuts can be used as a snack or for cooking. You are now not going to find out anything new about the culinary properties of walnuts. What we can highlight are all the health benefits of eating walnuts. The major benefits include a proper heart rate and a better mood.

Although this is not an exhaustive list, because walnuts have innumerable benefits, some of their properties are as follows:

  • They provide energy, proteins, vitamins, minerals and fibre.
  • They prevent blood clots, relax the blood vessels and reduce blood pressure.
  • They help to ease PMS symptoms since they are rich in vitamin B6.
  • They are recommended for people with dry skin since they are rich in linoleic acid, zinc and vitamin E.
  • They are also recommended for people with depression, stress and fatigue because of the vitamin B content.
  • They help to prevent eczema thanks to their polyphenolic compounds.
  • Their intense astringent action means that walnut leaves and walnut ink (green husk) are useful for intestinal disorders, skin problems and mucosal disorders.
  • They are rich in tryptophan, an amino acid which helps us to relax. Therefore, eating some walnuts during the evening can help us sleep better at night. How about some NATURAL walnuts as an afternoon snack?
  • They help to prevent heart diseases since they lower “bad” LDL cholesterol. This is because of their unsaturated fats, especially linoleic acid.

And, as we have already said, these are just some of their many properties.

Now you have a few more reasons to eat nuts, apart from their delicious taste!
